Saiya slouched in her seat in the back of science class. The teacher was droning on about the difference between "soil" and "dirt". Does it really matter? Saiya thought to herself, scowl deepening. Her dyed black hair fell into her eyes as it often did. She snatched a pen from atop her desk and began to doodle on her forearm. She covered her numerous scars with black ink, just to kill the time. When she got bored of that, Saiya resorted to drawing on the palm of her hand. She let her mind wander a bit...
When I first found out my perfect sister was getting married, I could care less. I didn't like her fiance, he was a jerk. But that didn't matter, I hated my sister anyways. The night before the wedding I remember standing at the back of the room, watching my mother and sister crying and hugging each other. That was the most sappy thing I've ever seen. I skipped the ceremony the next day, there was no way in hell I was going to wear a dress. My mother wasn't too forgiving about that, I got grounded for three months straight. Afterwords my sister and her husband went to France, where she became a supermodel.
Saiya stretched her neck a bit, straining to see the clock. 27 minutes left still, and the teacher was still lecturing. But as far as Saiya could tell, nobody was paying attention. There were people staring off into space, people pretending to take notes and those who were practically falling asleep in their chairs. Saiya allowed a sigh to escape her lips, her mind was traveling back to the guy she'd met in the hall, Ben. For the past few days she couldn't get him out of her mind... Saiya then began to pick at the chipping black nail polish on her fingernails, thought on Ben.

Ally sank down even lower in her chair, glaring evilly at the stupid teacher. She hated her stupid life. SHe was stuck in here with a bunch of juniors, because she sucked at science, and they stuck her in remedial. She took out her notebook and started drawing all over the margins in her notes. By the time she was finished, she couldn't tell where the doodle started and where the notes ended. When she was done with that, she looked up at the clock and sighed, loudly, when she realized there was still like, half an hour left. She listened to the teacher drone on for about two seconds, before gazing around at the younger kids all around her. She spotted this one girl, directly across from her, with ink all up and down her arms, with her dark hair in her eyes. She seemed to be thinking intently about, well, something, and Ally couldn't figure out what. She was so bored, and not to mention lonely, that she decided to write the girl a note.
Hey, i know you don't know me, I mean, I'm a year older than you and stuff, but we're both bored so... hi, i'm ally.
Ally hissed at the girl, and tossed the now-folded-up piece of paper onto the girl's desk.

Saiya looked at the folded note, that was slowly losing the freshness to its crease. She unfolded it, then read it once. She paused a moment, that girl was stepping out of her social circle, emos weren't supposed to be talked to by someone of another clique. That just didn't happen. Ever. Saiya read it again, squinting slightly, she'd left her glasses at home, she hated them. Hastily, she scribbled her response in her barely legible manuscript;
My name is Christina, but I prefer to be called Saiya she wrote, then paused, and then slipped in a pronunciation in messy brackets; [sEYEuh]
Saiya then tossed the note back on Ally's desk, looking at the clock although she knew not much time could've passed. She pulled a stick of gum and shoved it in her mouth. She knew that the teacher wasn't too keen on gum, but she didn't care.

Ally unfolded the note underneath the desk and read the quick scrawl across the page, noticing what a cool name the girl had. Saiya, what a cool name, she wrote in her neat handwriting. After a short pause, she decided to add something else. So. Do you think that maybe we could hang out sometime. I mean, it couldn't hurt, right?
Ally meticulously folded the scrap paper and doodled a bit on the front, until the teacher was turned around again. She tossed it over to Saiya then, and began to write Ally luvs Brandon all over her desk.

Saiya slumped even more in her chair, she was almost to the point where if she slipped any farther she would find herself on the floor. But she kept her forearms on the flat surface of the desk, supporting herself. The note fluttered down to her hands once more, so she sat up. Carefully, Saiya opened it, making sure the teacher was still scribbling things for them to copy on the board. He was. And so she put her pen tip to the paper once more as she read. She did a slight double-take, a prep-ish person wanted to hang out with her? This was all too weird...
Saiya hastily wrote her responce. She still felt extremely weird, like she would wake up any second , or that one guy would pop out and say You've been punked!. But no, that didn't happen, so Saiya sat there gaping stupidly at it, before writing once again. Uh, sure, that is if you're willing to completely trash your reputation was her response. She made sure the teacher was still writing on the board, then tossed the note back.

Ally quickly unfloded the paper and read it. She grinned to herself as she opened the paper. Hon, I have no reputation. I have my friends and they don't care what I do. Stop being so down on yourself. And she drew a little smiley face next to the period. Ally wasn't a prep, but she wasn't a nerd, either. She didn't have a clique. She and her friends were a clique of her own, and she was pretty sure Nick could be classified as an emo/punk person. Ally could tell Saiya thought she was playing a mean joke on her so Ally quickly added, I swear I'm not some psychotic person trying to mess with your head. I just think it'd be fun to hang out some time. Maybe you could tutor me in sience, lol
Ally looked up and saw the teacher glaring at her. Ally blushed slightly and waved the note in the air, saying, "It's just my notes. I'm very into... moleculer equations." The teacher nodded and turned back to the board. Ally flicked the note at Saiya.

Saiya continued to slump in her seat, still completely in shock at what was happening. The girl didn't look to be of "her clique" and cliques at this school were like supreme law, as Saiya had quickly found out her first week here. The note fluttered back to her desk once more and Saiya unfolded it, then read, and re-read it, squinting. Saiya, tutor this Aly girl in science? Saiya nearly snorted at it.
She wrote a response. Well, in that case, why not? But me tutoring you in science isn't going to happen, I'm getting a solid D+. was what she had responded with her nearly illegible scrawl. The teacher was writing notes, so she tossed it back, she was surprised one of the goody-two-shoes hadn't ratted them out yet...

Ally read the note that Saiya tossed her way and scanned it, getting used to her handwriting. Well, then we're in the same boat. go D's! Ally scribbled in the margins again before tossing the note to the disbeleiving Saiya. Ally could still tell Saiya thought she was shifty, but the least she could do was prove her different. She had the whole year in this class, and she needed someone to talk to. And she had the feeling Saiya needed someone to talk to, also.

It wasn't long until the note arrived back on the surface of her desk once more. She opened it, then read it, nearly snorting with laughter again. She thought that she was the only person with academic flaws around here, everybody seemed to be completely flawless prep-a-zoids around this place. The one kind of person Saiya could never get along with. She picked up her pen from the surface of the desk, then relised there was no more room for her large writing.
She very quietly tore a full page from her notbook, and began to write her reply on there. Sweet, remedials, here I come. Saiya replied, flicking the new note back to Ally's desk. It was amazing she wasn't placed in remedials this year. Maybe because she wasn't at F level. Yet.
