Ally had woken up really late that morning. She barely had time to shower, let alone blow dry her hair and do makeup. She'd run out of her house about ten minutes after they usually left. Her mom's car was already running. Ally had slipped in the front seat and muttered an apology as her mom backed out of the driveway.
Now that she was at school, she realized she wasn't as late as she thought she was. There was hardly anybody here! She sighed, a deep, agitated sigh, and made her way over to the bench in the courtyard where she and her friends met almost every morning. She knew no one would be here for a while yet, but she had nothing better to do.
She ran her fingers through her soaking wet hair as she looked for someone, anyone, she knew.

Brandon was grappling with a descison with his brain. Half of him wanted to ask Ally out and hope everything was going to be okay... but the other half didn't want to look like an idiot and screw up infront of her. It was Ally Collins for God sakes. She was beautiful, funny, smart, kind... he could write a book about her.
Brandon was wearing loose fitting cargos and a tight, sleevless shirt that showed off his chiseled abs. He rounded a corner. And stopped in his tracks. Ally Collins was standing there, wet, but beautiful.
There she was... it was as simple and stupid as that. This was his chance. Brandon's mind and heart grappled trying to tell him which path to take. He decided to take his own.
"Hey Ally. How's it goin'"

Ally looked up in surprise, hearing a familiar voice. Her breath caught in her voice as she realized just who was talking to her... the most popular guy in school, Brandon Henson... talking to her? There had to be like, some kind of mistake.
"Uh... hi, Brandon," she replied, feeling her face start to flush as he gazed at her. "What's going on?" She decided it was probably rude to sit while he was standing, so she gestured to the empty part of the seat next to her, inviting him to sit.

Brandon was still arguing. His heart told him to ask Ally out... but his mind told him to wait. Uh... hi, Brandon She sounded nervous. Good, so he wasn't the only one. He saw that she had gestured for him to sit down, so Brandon plopped down next to Ally.
What's going on?
Trying to be funny and lighten up the mood he said,Hey, no fair, I asked you first" He smiled, and tried to show her that he had it under control.

Ally smiled as Brandon tried to make light of the situation. It was really funny how nervous he seemed to be around her. Her, the most-popular-outside-the-populars, and okay title, but one Brandon Henson should shy away from. SHe was out of his league, and that's putting it lightly.
But she decided to laugh along with his joke. She nervously tried to run her hands through her hair, but it was wet and it was starting to tangle up. "Okay, I'll go first. I woke up late this morning, forgot to eat breakfast, took a three minute shower and didn't have enough time to blow dry, and now I look like crap," she joked. "Now it's your turn," she said, looking up--yes, up--at him expectantly.

Melody was always here this early in the morning, but never had she ever seen anyone here before her. Ally Collins was actually here, and looking lik she had woken up late, forgot to eat breakfast, took a three minute shower, and didn't have time to dry her hair. She looked like crap and she could understand that. There was someone else with her, Brandon. Melody was surprised. This would be a big moment for him and she was happy for him. Brandon and Melody went way back to middle school when they were friends. Since then, she had developed some unusual feelings for Brandon. She knew that he totally loved Ally and she liked him too. Ally deserved someone like Brandon and Melody couldn't help but feel a little jealous but very happy for him. After all, Ally was one of her best friends.

Brandon laughed. It felt good. It felt like a giant, dark cloud had been lifted off his mood, and he felt himself relaxing. He stretched his legs out and spread his arms over the arm of the bench. Without realizing it, Brandon had put his arm around Ally. Quickly, he dropped his arms to his sides and looked down shamefully.
Brandon sat there for a sec, looked up and said,"Well I guess it's my turn. I got up took a shower, got dressed, came here... and saw the most beautiful girl ever sitting on a school bench, alone, cold and wet. The last part came out without hesitation. Brandon looked at Ally, fearing she would shy away. The fear grew, expanding inside his chest, stopping his breathing. He thought he would pass out. His heart beat twice its normal pace, waiting for a response.

Ally felt her own heart quicken as Brandon put his arm around her, slow again as he took it away, and then pick up double time as he told her she was pretty. She twisted around to give him a huge, dazzling smile. "Well, I'm glad you decided to talk to her. I mean, she thinks you're pretty great yourself."
Ally saw her friend Melody a few feet away, but she decided to ignore her. This was such a climatic moment in her short life that she didn't want to ruin it by talking to her. Not to be mean or anything, of course.
"By the way," she asked, changing the subject. She could feel her voice start to quaver as she thought about what she was about to ask him. It was huge, and they came from different cliques. Scary, but she knew, deep down, that he'd react well. At least, she hoped...
"...what are you doing this weekend? My friend Nick and I play in a band at Sunburst Cafe, and I was wondering, do you maybe want to come? On Saturday?"

Wow, this was really going far, Brandon actually put his arm around Ally. Meloody guessed that he didn't mean to. She started to giggle but stopped abruptly and decided to leave them alone, she was probably going to ask him to go see the band at the Sunburst anyway.

Well, I'm glad you decided to talk to her. I mean, she thinks you're pretty great yourself. Brandon quietly released his breath, not even realizing he had been holding it. His heart was beating twice a second, and he felt as if Ally could hear it.
By the way, there was a pause. She was nervous. Brandon could feel her confidence draining. He flashed her a smile, hoping it would give her a little boost.
...what are you doing this weekend? My friend Nick and I play in a band at Sunburst Cafe, and I was wondering, do you maybe want to come? On Saturday? Brandon quietly cursed under his breath. This kid Nick was her "friend". Boyfriend more like it. He was too late. Nick had gotten to Ally first. Brandon stood up to go. "No I won't come. You and your boyfriend have fun without me. Brandon stood to go, turned around and walked away with his back to Ally.

What the hell? she thought. And she voiced it. "What the hell are you talking about?" she shouted, not containing her blunt-ness. "Nick has a girlfriend. And I've known him since sixth grade. He's too dictator-ish to be my boyfriend. I really do want you to come!" After anopther whole minute of silence, she continued. "Truth is, I've wanted to go out with you for a long time..."

Brandon spun arround, as if propelled by a strange force. There was a strange glint in his blue eyes. What the hell are you talking about? Nick has a girlfriend. And I've known him since sixth grade. He's too dictator-ish to be my boyfriend. I really do want you to come! Brandon blushed, and looked at the ground. He felt stupid now.
Truth is, I've wanted to go out with you for a long time...
Brandon stared open mouthed at Ally. He straightened himself up, walked over to her, and said, I'm glad. Because I feel the same way.

Wow. Ally felt her heart to pick up pace again as he told her he liked her, really, actually liked her. She stood up and ran her fingers through her hair. She gave him a huge smile and walked over to him, wrapping her arms around him, breathing him in. She couldn't believe her luck, that he actually even would consider going out with her.

Brandon watched closely for her reaction. The sunlight shone on Ally making her hair sparkle, and her smile shine. Brandon felt like he was going to explode. He couldn't breathe. The air refused to come out of his lungs.
Ally came up to him and hugged him
Brandon still wasn't breathing. He was hugging the most beautful girl in school. He hugged her tight, feeling her heart pound against his chest. Our maybe it was his. Our maybe it was our hearts bouncing off each others. It dosen't matter.
Brandon held Ally at arm's length and kissed her.

Ally felt her heart speed up again as Brandon hugged her back, and tightly. She breathed in his smell, enjoying the aroma of sea water and toothpaste, and a little bit of cologne, but not enough to make her want to gag. Her life was finally, finally falling into place, the guy of her dreams in her arms, their hearts beating against one another's.
And then the most amazing thing ever happened. Brandon grabbed her arms and lightly pushed back, and then leaned in and kissed her. It was a timid kiss, like he was scared that he would frighten her away. When he broke off, Ally felt like her breath would never get back into her lungs. When she could breath again, she pulled him close to her and kissed him, hard and long and meaningful. She'd wanted to do this for so long, she put all her feelings into the kiss, the long abstinence, the feelings of regret she'd had for never doing it before.
Ally broke off and pushed her still-damp hair back from her face, smiling hugely. "I'll see you Saturday?" she asked.
