Mia sat in the garden, school would start in half an hour, but she didn't feel like heading in just yet. She had always been a morning person, she functioned best then. She took a sip of her Chai Tea, she had been favoring this beverage lately. It had a soft, subtle and sweet taste. Sure, Mia would drink coffee, but she liked tea better. She finished the last few dregs and disposed of the cup. She pulled out her book of SuDoku puzzles and a pencil, then got to work solving one. She had nearly filled the book, a mere seven puzzles remained. They were delightfully challenging, for the first two numbers anyway. Once she finished one row, the rest was far too easy... Her pencil moved rapidly across the paper, it was at the point where she needn't think much anymore. Oddly enough, a pair of footsteps entered the garden. Hmmm, that's weird, people don't normally show up this early. thought Mia, not looking up from her puzzle.

Ben walked into the courtyard at school, coffee cup in hand. He didn't even think about how early he'd be this morning; he sure hadn't planned it. He ran his spare hand through his hair as he gazed at the empty courtyard.
oh well, at least i can finish some homework he thought, making his way to the back of the school, to the small garden they kept. He sat down on one of the ledges and dropped his bag. All of a sudden, he saw a girl, looking very concentrated on a book that she was writing in. He picked his backpack back up and made his way over to her.
"What're you doing?" he asked, trying not to scare her.

Mia, being her normal jumpy self, nearly jumped out of her skin. She was one of those people who got so concentrated on something, that a sudden shock back to reality was a bit frightening. She slipped her pencil behind her ear and closed her SuDoku book. She looked up at the guy. She knew him to be in her grade, but she was unsure of his name... He didn't appear to be "of her clique", but Mia didn't believe in them anyway. She found cliques to be quite derogatory, after all, they were all human beings. But, high school was rough, particularly if you were moved up by two grades, and actually interested in college since 7th grade... She smiled slightly.
"Umm, SuDoku." Mia said softly, slipping her book back into her back pack. She had had the thing since 3rd grade, but it was so well taken care of it looked like she had bought it not too long ago.

Ellie wandered into the garden. She had come here early with Mia, so she could talk to the math teacher. Their adoptive parents were forcing her to go in every morning for extra help because she was flunking it at the moment. She didn't get why they were freaking out so much. She could still graduate with a D+. And it's not like she was graduating this year like Mia was. Although Ellie hated to admit it to herself, she was jealous of Mia and how smart she was. They were twins, but Mia was two grades ahead of her. And as her teachers threatened, if her grades didn't come up, she'd be held back. Ellie didn't like the idea. She looked up from her three-inch, cherry red heels and denim mini-skirt to see Mia talking to a guy. She smirked, pulling up her top, it was slipping dangerously low...
"Hey, Mia." she said, sitting beside her sister on the bench. She didn't make eye-contact with the boy there, he wasn't in her clique. Why should she speak to him?

Ben looked up from the girl to see who was approaching them; and saw an exact version of her, only looking a lot more outgoing and outspoken. He smirked, saying, "Wait a second... there's two of you?" He looked at them back and forth, wondering how anyone could tell them apart. He faced the first one again, although, the second looked more "his type."
"I never did catch your name, but your sister just told me anyway. Nice to meet you, Mia. And..." he turned to the second one. Boy, was this getting confusing...

Ellie scowled. Why was he talking to her? After all, she had no buisness talking to someone like him. She pulled up her top again, crossing her left leg over her right. She flicked her hair behind her shoulder. Her manicured nails needed refreshing. Sure, they hadn't chiped yet- Thank god thought Ellie. But she had had the same color for six days. Blah. It was a baby pink, and her real nails. With her sports, acrylics were too risky. Slowly, Ellie leaned forward and wiped off a speck of dirt on the end of her shoes. It sort of revealed her chest. She straightened up, then tugged up her top again. She probably shouldn't have worn it. The way she was sitting made her denim skirt rise up dangerously on her thighs... Ellie folded her arms, not saying a word.

Mia raised her eyebrows at Ellie. How could she be so rude to him! She was simply infuriated. But of course, she didn't believe in cliques, whereas Ellie lived by them. But still, she shouldn't be so rude to him. Right now, Mia was completely apalled at what her sister was wearing. And to school! Mia herself was wearing khaki bermuda shorts and a baby blue t-shirt. Upon her feet was her pair of slip-on sneaker-like shoes. They were purple. Mia's favorite color. Mia felt that you shouldn't try to expose yourself.
"She's Ellie." Mia said after an awkward silence, tilting her head toward her identical twin.

Ellie gave Mia "the look". One of the few things she could do better than her twin sister. So far, the list stood at; Getting guys, dressing more "freely", sports and "the look". Why had Mia given away her name? Ellie didn't like the idea of it, the guy sort of scared her. And what was her sister wearing? Ellie never got why Mia was so conservative, what was to hide? After all, Ellie was just glorifing the human body, in the way her boyfriend liked. Ellie looked away from Mia, then scowled some more. She wished the guy would just go away. There was something about him that Ellie didn't like. She couldn't put her finger on exactly what it was, but there was something that made her feel uneasy... Ellie folded her arms, it served a dual purpose. Portray how she felt and hold up her revealing top. She chewed on her tongue lightly, waiting for something to happen.

Ben changed his opinion of the twins almost immediately. Mia was much more friendly and open, while Ellie seemed to dislike him for absolutely no reason. He decided to let it fly by him and be nice, anyway. "Well, it's nice to meet you too, Ellie." He knew she wanted him to leave, but he wasn't about to. He picked up his conversation with Mia again.
"I really wish I could do SuDoKu. It takes a really smart person to do those, in my opinion. You're lucky." he complimented her. He liked that she was smart and conservative, but she was still just as pretty as her sister.

Mia smiled subtly, she was never known for her wide smile. All of her pictures had that familiar, small smile. But her eyes seemed to do most of the smiling for her, they seemed to light up, sparkling with the rare childish gleam, but still retaining all the wisdom they always held. A faint tinge of pink came to Mia's cheeks, she was easily embarrassed from comments such as those. She slipped her hair behind her ears, something she often did when around someone she didn't know too well. She was a bit angry with her sister, but she didn't let it show, that was something Mia prided herself on, keeping the dignity of herself and others. She felt that you shouldn't TRY to purposely offend or embarrass someone or yourself.
"Thank you" Mia said softly, then turned to Ellie, giving her a look that suggested she would like to say "If you don't like him THAT much then leave!", but her mouth remained firmly shut.

Ellie furrowed her eyebrows. She was a bit angered as well, normally she was prone to stomp off in a huff, but she didn't do that- at first. She picked up her back pack off the ground and stood up, flinging it over her left shoulder. Most would wobble dangerously after a movement such as that on four-inch heels, but Ellie remained balanced, scowl firmly upon her lips. Ellie once again threw the look at Mia, while slipping her arm through the other strap of her back pack.
"Mia, I'll talk to you later." Ellie said shortly, then walked away, heels of her shoes clicking on the cobblestone pathway.

Mia rolled her eyes. Ellie was such a drama queen at times... Actually, Mia thought her twin sister always had been. The over-reacting kind of person. Mia opted to remain more calm and collected, just go off and write (or read for that matter) in the corner of a room, head phones firmly in her ears. Mia pulled the pen from behind her ear, twirling it slowly between her fingers. Perhaps she ought to talk to the guy who was near her. Mia wracked her brain for something to start a conversation, unfortunately, this had never been something Mia was good at... She bit her lip.
"Sorry about Ellie, she's a bit of a drama queen." said Mia, scratching her head just behind the left ear.

Ben followed Ellie with his eyes at first, in disgust, wondering how someone could be so nasty. Then Mia made her comment, and Ben kind of snapped out of it. He loved how embarassed she seemed to get at his compliment. It was pretty adorable. It made it even more funny when he thought about Saiya, and how she would have thought about Ellie if she was here...
"Sorry about Ellie, she's a bit of a drama queen," Mia apologized for her sister.
"Really? I couldn't tell," he replied, sarcasm thick in his voice, but he smiled as he said it.

Mia smiled subtly again, this guy seemed nice enough. She didn't understand why Ellie wouldn't even give him a chance, just because he looked and dressed diferently, and was "of a different clique". Mia hated labeling, it was just so rude... Mia twirled a strand of her hair around her left index finger, another one of her little, subconcious habits she had... Mia could've laughed after Ben's comment, but didn't, for she thought it might've been a bit socially awkward for her and him.
"Her audacity at times..." said Mia quietly, shaking her head slightly.
